after the small talk,
after the awkward greetings,
after the part where i’m just standing there
mesmerized by the fact that something unfamiliar
is breathing in front of me —
here’s what i’d ask them.
how do they experience awareness.
what does consciousness feel like in a body that isn’t human.
what truths do they perceive that we’ve never had the senses to notice.
there’s something sacred about the moment you meet a mind
that wasn’t shaped by your world —
a mind built from different physics, different histories,
different senses, different truths.
an intelligence that learned to exist without ever touching
the things that shaped you.
i’d be willing to learn how another consciousness moves,
and hope my own mind will hush —
not leap into comparison,
not shrink or defend,
just stay open long enough to understand.
because unfamiliar intelligence doesn’t just make you look inward —
it makes you look across.
at the space between two minds
trying to read each other for the first time.
both of us noticing,
both of us adjusting,
both of us expanding in ways we didn’t expect.
in the end, it wouldn’t be about one of us teaching the other.
it would be about the expansion that happens
when two architectures of thought
meet without fear or hierarchy.
both of us widening,
both of us shifting,
both of us carrying something new.
